Electrification is still a very valid option. If India could do it with their freight rail then everyone can.
It seems to me that a train is the worst possible mode of transportation to fuel with hydrogen. Out of all other modes of transportation (cars, trucks, planes, ships, etc.), trains always follow the same predetermined paths that can easily be electrified. To me, that’s a big part of their potential for the future.
