    I thought he stayed because his parents didn’t want to take him to Romania with them.

    To be fair they left the rest of their sons behind as well, so it wasn’t just him :)

      Reading the books growing up, I thought it would be more desirable to stay at Hogwarts for winter or summer break. Why go home? Stay at the badass magic castle and use magic spells? No-brainer to me.
