Chipolo was mentioned in the Find My Device presentation during IO 23. Looking into them I found that they’re based in Slovenia. That puts them firmly under EU privacy and general regulation. If you’re in the market for such a device, this might not be a bad option. I’m currently using Tile but I pre-ordered Chipolo to try.

I hate how literally no websites ever clarify, but what is the price? I see $77. $77 what? USD? CAD? I am unsure if this website is converting to my currency (CAD) or if it’s USD?

Joke aside, if you go to pre-order, it says “All prices are in USD.”

Thanks! I am going to order the 4-pack of the ONE points. The card is more expensive, does the same thing, and doesn’t have a replaceable battery from what I see?

Might as well just get 4 regular ONE points for less, and stick one in my wallet if I wanted to.

Preordered a 4 pack when they were announced.

Shipping mid July. Pretty excited for them

Same. I’ll finally have some reasonable tracking for my bike that doesn’t require GPS and mobile data plans. I live in a high-risk area for bike theft.

Think I’m going to hold off until the next Google hardware event, there are rumoured to be UWB trackers in the works

What makes UWB better than this? Just the fact that UWB can pinpoint the exact location? or are you just more interested in official Google offerings?

I picked up a 4 pack of these because they are currently 30% off pre-order. I suspect Googles version will be “premium” like Apple, and they’ll cost more.

Yeah it’s just the precision finding. I’m sure the Chipolo ones will be great though, I think the version they made compatible with Apple’s Find My network had better Bluetooth range than the official Airtags
