For real though, since I joined Lemmy (last Friday, 4 days into blackout) I probably spend as much daily time here as I spent there before blackout 😅 but I’m enjoying it !

It’s nice to see posts made by real people; this way (using Lemmy), you realize just how much bots’ crap is Reddit made of.

Agree. The lack of bots, sponsored posts and AutoMod comments are a breath of fresh air

oh man I do not miss scrolling past the thousand word automod essay on every freaking post. I kinda miss sorting by controversial though.

That reminds me of r/shitposting, there used to be a time where you could ruin an entire post and have like more than 50 replies of the autobot alone

Apollo auto-collapsed those AutoMod posts so I never had to deal with them. 🥲

Excuse me, does anyone know how to delete someone else’s post? I’m in this picture and I don’t like it.

Just kidding, I love it here.

Yes, I know how. Just press the button work the forbidden on it, go to the previous page and reload. Gone!

Same here, it took me a while to figure out how Lemmy works, but I think I’m getting it. Honestly I can’t believe I haven’t found out about this before now. Go fediverse!

The first few days were kind of tough; but once I started finding communities I liked, my feed got pretty nice.

This place is already doing what reddit did for me and Jerboa is very close to the 3rd party app I used. Fuck reddit and spez, hello Lemmy!

Well said. I used Sync for Reddit and find Jerboa compares well.

Thankyou for making me aware of this app

Yea I’m liking Jerboa a lot, I just need an app on IOS so I don’t have to use a tablet to browse lemmy lol

There’s a Lemmy client for iOS called mlem. No idea what it’s like though.

Indeed! This is where reddit goes to die, to paraphrase a great contemporary philosopher (/s/s/s, über/s, in case it’s needed)

Four /s’s means you’re being sarcastic about being sarcastic about being sarcastic about being sarcastic - so, you’re not being sarcastic!

I spent way too long trying to compute this.

        rewinds timeline

“Hello world, Please notice I’m currently being sarcastic. Have a very nice day, Sincerely.”

Or I could just edit my post, but…

Lemmy is the first platform I’ve come across that I’m actually excited to use in many years. Being federated and not motivated by profits (with all the tracking and selling of personal information that it entails) makes me feel like I’m not the product.

Your information is freely available through the API of these platforms so I could track you myself now 😌😌

Yes, I can’t wait to see where this goes! Lately I’ve found myself lurking and barely leaving comments on Reddit anymore, yet here I am on Lemmy commenting away.

Just to avoid scree time after reddit blackout, I had uninstalled other social media apps as well. But got suck into Lemmy right after that.
