Old post, new to Lemmy. I got lucky with some roadside scrap wood, and this was the result! The full-res album is on imgur with build info. I made this about a year ago, and it’s holding up great! Did routing to clear out the bowl, then hand-cut the joinery (mortise and through-tenon) for the stand.

Edit: the full build album is on Imgur (with notes and a lot more pictures).

Very cool. I always intended to make a stand out of wood for my RS160 headphones to replace the crappy 3D printed one I made (one of the first things I designed after getting my printer in college). That or at least design and print a better one. I never got around to it. After 11 years, the power cable was worn out, and I finally replaced them with RS175s, which have a base with an integrated charger.

If I had made one out of wood, this is exactly how I hoped it would turn out. Well done!

Thanks! I’d be curious to see a picture of the 3d-printed stand if you’ve got one.

I wish there were good open-backed RF headphones that came in pairs, but I couldn’t seem to find any. My wife and I watched movies with headphones for a while when my kid was really little, but we just ended up using Bluetooth. That had a lot of annoyances to go with it, even after a lot of iterating.
