I am very wary of that design choice.

  • Players already have a hard time keeping track of their character sheets. You know the 6+ cards they are responsible for will be lost, damaged, and so forth.

  • How many duplicates will there be? What happens if two players want the same character archetype / ability?

  • If the DM wants to check a rule, they have to look through a deck of shuffled cards instead of just turning to page 56.

  • Does replacing a card mean buying a whole new set? Will there be booster packs as the game evolves?

Maybe I’m the minority here, but I am very concerned about this. It’s a shame because aside from the use of cards, I love everything I’ve seen about Daggerheart.

    I don’t see problems here

    • this highly depends on your players. Comparing this to playing PF1 is a breeze
    • I plan on just printing / copying the cards that will be used in play. If they get lost, just reprint
    • this also solves the two players wanting the same card
    • I hope / believe there will be a book or online compendium that contains everything in non-card form
