I joined .world before aussie.zone was a thing. Now with them banning all the piracy communities it seems a slippery slope for all other kinds of discussions too.

I’m Australian. Aussies are notorious pirates. Does aussie.zone have plans to also defederate dbzer0 etc?

Just want some clarity before moving here.

Thanks!

Your use of the words “plans” and “policy” suggest a level of strategy that would be a little generous.

We are not equipped to monitor all the assorted communities on all the instances in the fediverse and ad-hoc go about blocking communities for every potential activity that goes against the site rules here. Even the lemmy.world actions of blocking a couple of communities is the weakest bit of token effort possible.

That’s a long-winded way of saying ‘no - we have no plans’. I don’t even see what risk the lemmy.world people thought they’d be exposed to if their users posted content on some other instance.

For visibility, these are the instances blocked here:
    lemmygrad.ml
    lemmynsfw.com
    federotica.com
    exploding-heads.com
    pornlemmy.com

Do you mean the Nazis? They’re blocked because they are Nazis.

If you mean the porn instances, they’re full of spam and fill your feed up with crap. The reports are tiresome, also. If you want that content, it’s super easy to have an account on one of those instances as well as here.

As to “normal Reddit”, this isn’t Reddit and we don’t try to be. Apologies, but they don’t guide us at all. And most users like it that way.

I meant porn, not nazis. They can get fucked long live my great grandfather who was killed by one.

Cheers mate. That’s all I wanted to know. Common sense and Aussie values basically.

I feel like Australians are against being a wanker, but not against having a wank.

It sounds like the former should preclude the latter, but it doesn’t.
