Anyone got more details on how this is gonna work?

It seems to be a cycletrack from Marshall up to Ludlow. I’m not entirely sure then how a cyclist coming northbound is supposed to just go all the way over to the left hand side of the road and continue on if this is the way it’s gonna be.

Will there be some special light? I highly, highly doubt they’re going to reorient the entire southern end of the parkway to keep it a cycle track all the way downtown so I’m curious how this should work.

That and is this going to connect to some cycletrack on Ludlow? I know that was rumored but never heard anything else.

It would be nice if they eventually reoriented the southern portion to a cycle track, seems to me it would help the wrong way biker problem I’ve seen in the bike lanes. I would assume you would do the same thing you do when you are turning left onto Marshall. A special light would be nice, but I would do one of two things depending on traffic: 1. Transfer into the car lanes and use the normal signals. 2. Pull into the crosswalk and follow the pedestrian signals.

I do think they are doing work on the lights there, so a special light may be coming.

It would also help the southern end avoid people going up or coming out of Ravine, which has always been one of the more dangerous points.

And yeah, I’ve ridden it a couple times (I know it’s not done) but have basically just jumped out into traffic (safely) and went into the left turn lane at Marshall. From there I go straight into the bike lane. For now it works.

Really hoping they put a long curb all the way down it though. It’s disconcerting going northbound against cars going 40mph+ at you with only just a couple lines of paint separating you.

I’m mostly just happy that there is now a continuous bike route from Northside to downtown. We’ve had several partial routes for so long I was beginning to think they would never finish a single one. I had just taken to riding on the wide sidewalks along spring Grove.

100% agree. I go up Spring Grove a bit but I dislike how it goes, then dies out, then comes back, then goes onto the sidewalk under the bridge then back on the road then dies out again. This new contiguous path all the way there is great. Plus maybe we get that Ludlow cycletrack in a couple years up to the Gaslight?

But happy as can be that this new mayor and council seem very, very interested in improving cycling and pedestrian infrastructure.
