Ako lang ba ang nabibwisit sa nagsasabi na ayaw daw nila sa Lemmy kasi yung main developer may questionable actions, first of all kahit siya ang main contributor hindi siya ang may ari ng Lemmy, open-source ang code may naka-fork na nito at kung mawala man may archive naman, ang totoong may ari nito ay tayong mga users kung ayaw kay dessalines edi gumawa ka ng sariling instance, ayaw sa mod edi gumawa ka ng sariling community na may same name don sa ayaw mo sa ibang instance LEMMY IS NOT A COMPANY walang may ari nito, THEY CAN’T ACCEPT NA MAS WORSE SI DADZY SPEZ NILA

Yeah, there’s a redditor pretty much hounding every thread and copy-pasting that whenever Lemmy is mentioned. Hirap na nga makakalap ng members kasi acquired taste yung UI at medyo hilaw pa mga mobile apps, then you have that tankie BS muddying the waters.

Ironically, he recommended Raddle’s existing Philippines community… despite the mod telling me that they’re leftist/anarchist-centric and best we make a casual offshoot. Baka hindi lang siguro siya aware, but it is what it is.

I agree it does not matter its open source even more the way fideverse is setup we can have different communities with differing ideologies can choose to interact or not with each other.

There are a lot of controversial people in software world even more in open source. One example is Linus Torvalds they might not want to keep using android for long.

    https://news.itsfoss.com/linus-torvalds-woke-communists/

I’m sure a handful of them are using tiktok can’t wait for their surpise the company bytedance is basically the CCP.

Yeah your right I guess in this situation they (reddit) are referring to the extreme left or extreme right ideologies. The thing with FOSS it can work with both.

Plus there’s kbin if they really don’t want to join lemmy. Some people are just making excuses at this point. Comfort zone and all that. Just try to convince who you can to join us here.

I doubt you’d find anyone here who would disagree, so instead of that, I’ll say this: if you don’t like Lemmy, how about Kbin?

Kbin is interoperable with Lemmy, and thus, people getting into Kbin can also access content in Lemmy. That’s way better than solutions such as Raddle which operates as a single, isolated island. (Correct me if I’m wrong here, I don’t think Raddle is part of the Fediverse tho, which is the point I’m trying to make here.)

Sure, that’s besides the point, but maybe it isn’t? The fact that Lemmy is part of the Threadiverse means, like what you’ve said, people can create software that can interact with Lemmy, but is “100% Commie and cruelty-free,” or whatever and benefit from the content elsewhere (in the Threadiverse)

Can you simplify what you’re implying on the third paragraph my comprehension is having skill issues as of the moment

        Ah, sorry, lol!

It’s just a rambly way of saying “Since Lemmy is part of the Fediverse, you can use Kbin instead and gain the benefits of being in Lemmy without being in Lemmy.”

It also connects with your point about Lemmy being able to be ported, or creating instances aside from lemmy.ml. It also brings to forefront the strengths of a Fediverse-based solution over others (which I’ve already touched on my 2nd paragraph). If they don’t like Lemmy because of supposed faults of its devs, no matter, they can use others, sure but they’re losing out on the benefits of being in the Fediverse.

Just as an aside, I’m already seeing this in action. I’m already following magazines from Kbin without even realizing it, seamlessly interacting with Kbin users in various threads. I don’t even have to think about it–unless they’re talking about Kbin-specific issues and situations, lol!

May issue sa kbin, I think. We have a user here who posts from there and you can’t reply to his threads at all. Perpetual loading circle lang.

But imagine if they resolve that, we can cross-post from our kbin kung ayaw nila UI ng Lemmy and prefer the magazine format.

            I’m posting from kbin.social.
And Kbin.social can’t see the full c/Philippines magazine from lemmy.world.

Now I fully understood what you’re implying, akala ko sinabi mo sa third paragraph na kaya na o-off yung mga may ayaw sa lemmy dahil sa feature na pde i inter connect ang mga instances kaya yung actions ni dessalines ay hindi dapat baliwalain, i-co counter ko sana ng if you’re the owner of the instance you have the power to disassociate from other instances buti na lang nag ask muna ko hehe

@Henry Unfortunately ganyan talaga magisip ung ibang tao. Some normies just really want their websites to be run by corpos with men in suits. I don’t agree with them, but there is a tiny bit of logic there. Kung big company ung site, they have more eyes on them and they have more of a responsibility to maintain their good image. But obviously at some point they become too big to care, like what Reddit’s CEO is doing.
