Today I’m testing the beloved Dorian by BPAL. I haven’t been into Indies long enough to have tried this before the dry spell…so I’m happy it finally returned! (If only a restock of O could follow). I can’t compare the old to new, but it’s supposed to have the same recipe/ingredients as before. It’s a very lovely scent. At first application I get a lot of lemon, but it quickly dries down into this sweet musky scent. The citrus takes a back seat but stays enough to lift it. I’m quite happy with it so far, can only imagine it will get better with age!

I’m trying a half-indie layering experiment, which I think I’m concluding is mostly a failure. I layered Fyrinnae’s Tomato Leaf and Jo Malone’s Red Roses, because I find the Jo Malone just a bit sweet (but not so sweet that I don’t like it). The Tomato Leaf I really like right away, but don’t particularly like the dry-down. I hoped to get the sweet rose plus greenness of Tomato Leaf, but instead the sweetness seemed to get magnified a bit, which I was really surprised by. Now that I’ve had it on for a few hours, it’s okay but pretty unremarkable.

Several days ago, I tried layering Fyrinnae’s Convergence Zone and Jo Malone Red Roses, and I did like that quite a bit. That’s something I need to try a little more.

I haven’t ventured much into layering/mixing scents. I need to take a break from buying for a bit, so I think that’ll be a good way to shop my stash!
