@Mario Vavti Easy, that i stop supporting a post, that i supported before, because later on i had a 2nd thought. Btw i am no special person there, people change their mind all the time.
@*_jayrope yes, of course you have your intention. But those do not tell us what the consequences of your intention should be.
Basically you have pushed 3rd party content into your connections stream. If you revoke your announce activity, the content will be still in their stream and they will not know why. Now you might say “remove the content too”. But that would be kind of rude. Maybe they found it interesting, maybe they even engaged with it already etc. That is why undo announce is not implemented yet.@Mario Vavti I can’t see your point. This would mean, that people engaging upon a recommendation are also acting weirdly. I can’t see neither of those issues, and i think, that the whole is just one of comm being fluid, neither fully controllable nor judgeable. What matters to me, is that i could publicly (or not) withdraw a consent or even endorsement which i had given before to some content and their author(s).
What others make of either action is their own story, not mine.@*_jayrope it is not about what my point is. It is about what the consequences of the undo announce should be :thinking_face:
@Mario Vavti Let’s use an example. Someone posts a thread, i like the initial post, i am boosting it, so that more can engage in that discussion. The whole thing later on turns into sthg. nasty, there’s many options, flame wars, anti-human stuff, what-have-you.

I have explained the problem above already. A repeat or boost will push 3rd party content to your connections. A like does not do that. That is the main difference.
I don’t know if this is a good analogy or not, but it sounds like forwarding an email to an email distribution list and then wanting to unforward it 3 days later. That would involve reaching out and deleting email from other people’s inboxes.

Is it completely unfathomable to wanting to be able to remove a boost later alone, because you do not want to show up as a booster on their post after the type of incidents described above? That should make it clear.

Mastodon works quite different compared to Hubzilla. They do not have conversations, just posts which are its own entity.

@*_jayrope no, actually it has only be posted that you want to be able to remove yourself from the list. As mentioned many times, there are other things to consider… Nobody posted their constructive ideas about this yet.
