It’s been a looong time now, but I was once a big reader of American superhero comics. For example, I was hooked good on Frank Miller’s Daredevil, in which The Punisher made some memorable appearances.

I think those appearances may also have ‘turned up the volume’ on the idea of two heroes trying to deal with the same issue through completely different means, starting their own conflict in the process, sometimes highly violent ones.

Anyway, it’s very interesting to get these occasional renderings of characters by Euro and other artists. Mexican-American Jaime Hernandez had some fun with that, and Italy’s Milo Manara did some collections of gals from X-Men, which can be sampled HERE. They’re on the ‘cheesecake’ side, btw!

Even more then that one, I love “Give Me Liberty - An American Dream” which Miller did with Dave Gibbons. It is in my opinion certainly one of the best US American comics ever made. If you did not read it yet, put it on your list now, trust me. It´s a brilliant deconstruction of US American society in the format of a crazy sci-fi roller coaster ride, just my cup of tea.

        Thanks; I’ll take a look!

Yeah, I love the Den series and Corben in general. Such a unique, talented artist.

Milo Manara, now that you mention him … I really like his drawings but how can one guy be so horny all the time?

Hahaha. Well then I probably shouldn’t mention Argentinian Ignacio Noé, also a great artist and talent who is even more direct than Manara(!)
