Having a Creality Ender 3 Pro. Have upgraded the mainboard to a new Silent mainboard. Installed this Extroduer and also have a glass bed. I also purchased another glass bed to exchange the scratched one.
What should I do about my problem? Is my only solution to buy a CR-Touch Sensor? How does the sensor even work? Will it also scratch it when I am not careful enough or is it user friendly and fully automated?
I don’t have any other bed except the glas one for now. Should I rather purchase a flexible sheet for the bed instead of a glas bed?
If i understand correctly, your nozzle is too high still even with your Z at its lowest value? You should be able to follow these steps to adjust it lower (under “I’ve added a BLTouch, how do I set my Z-Offset”): https://marlin.crc.id.au/forum/t/ender-3-v2-frequently-asked-questions/17#heading--zoffset
I still use Z clickers instead of CR Touch. My lowest low with the clicker/lever makes the Nozzle stop below my bed. I could remove the glas bed to shrink my bed and maybe put a metal sheet on it or purchase a thin plate, but with the glas bed, the lowest Low I can get with all the 4 corners is not low enough for the nozzle to not touch the bed.
The steps are the same regardless of what you’re using for a Z sensor. The only issue I see is if your limit sensor physically won’t allow the gantry to move lower due to its mounting position otherwise it’s a ‘soft limit’ set exclusively in the firmware (which the above steps allow you to reconfigure).
You can move the Z end stop switch up. This will make the home (z=0) position higher.
I only use the Printer with my Octoprint Raspberry PI. Do I need a display for this? (My Display/Interface is broken since many years so I shrugged and just continued using Octoprint)
Would this still be usable when I don’t have a display and just use it with Octoprint?
No, on the left column of the printer there is the physical z switch, just lower your nozzle down as low as it will go and loosen the bolts on the switch and move it up till it just clicks. Since your display is broke your going to have to set the z index in goose. Or spend 30 bucks and buy a new display
