Please forgive my ignorance but i am new: When i subscribe to a non-local instanced community. I can see the posts from that community only in “all”. Is there a way to filter posts by community?
All I see is local or all as options. Am i doing something wrong?
They should show up in Subscribed, I think. They do for me. Although it did take a little while after I first added them, for some reason. Maybe give it a day and see if non-local posts start showing up in your Subscribed then?
I have the option for local and all. To which i assume all implies subscribed but i was hoping to have an option to have a filter per subscription.
Say if i am subscribed to, say, world news, i would like to be able to just see world news. Even if it’s not local… if possible.
Oh that’s interesting. I have three options: Local, Subscribed, and All
(I think All shows all posts from instances that are being actively tracked by your home instance, but I’m not sure, it’s kinda hard to tell…)
But to see just one community you should be able to tap on the community name / image and browse just that one, regardless of what instance it’s on. I don’t think you can set a single community as the default view though
I see the option here but doesn’t work… And not clickable.
How did you get to your option list in your screenshot?
Not really looking for a default view per se… Just a way to filter per community honestly.
I closed and opened the app and they appeared
Looking at your screenshot, you.arent logged in…
I got to it via this button at the top of the UI:
It looks to me like your app hasn’t caught up with your subscriptions yet. The first day I used Jerboa nothing showed up in my subscriptions list even though I hit subscribe on a bunch of communities. I went to bed and by the next morning it was working fine:
This is probably one of those “growing pains” things that Lemmy and Jerboa are gonna be going through for a while while the folks behind the scenes get things ironed out. I’d just give it a bit and see if they spontaneously appear tomorrow like mine did.
Edit: you might also want to try force-stopping the app and reloading it? That might force it to pull your subscription data again, idk
If you’d prefer you can probably open a ticket on the jerboa github about it, although I’m sure the developers have a lot of things to work on at the moment so it might not get priority yet.
Interesting! Indeed, the subscription list only updates when i force quit and reopen.
Thank you very much! At least i have a workaround.
I see local and ‘all’. I assume all means subscribed. But i was hoping for a more granular option of per ‘subscription’
Im using Jerboa. And there is annoption for subscribed view only.
Do you not see an option to view subscribed ?
I see a header like label on the sidebar on my phone but there’s nothing underneath or clickable.
My only two working options is local and all.
Do you see a list of the communities you are subscribed to, under the subscriptions heading, in the lower portion of the menu??
It appears the list communies i am subscribed to only refreshes when i force close and reopen the app on my phone. Which is why i was initially confused.
I noticed that also, having subscribed to a couple more, they didn’t appear in the list, until I closed and reopened the app…🤷🏻♂️
Same for me, it’s impossible to change default view in user settings.
On my server they’re listed below the main sidebar. You can also find a list when you look at your own profile
I see the sidebar with subscribed header… But nothing there underneath on my android phone.
Maybe a bug perhaps?
Which version of Jerboa do you have? The latest is 0.0.32. New updates are first released on F-Droid, in the izzysoft repository (needs to be added manually, see URI below). It’s in active alpha development, so updates are coming every couple of days. I remember having a similar issue in the beginning with an older version. If you have the playstore version installed and want to change to the F-Droid one, you want to first uninstall the playstore version.
I do have the google play version but it is indeed 0.0.32.
I’ll look into the f-droid version. Thank you
