Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don’t.

Lucky you can buy replacement cables cheaply (or expensively, if that’s your thing).

Is this normal? The most “extreme” thing I’ve done is to only have one iem in my hear. That might have put pressure on the cable

Looks like a poorly made cable. Thank goodness the cable is detachable. You should contact moondrop and have them send you another one. For the price this shouldn’t happen without something specific.

I recently quite literally broke the cable of my SSP by lying on them badly during sleep, but the cable held up to more than six months of rough use and I didnt notice any damage until I broke the pins is that the right word? off the cable so I would think that you just were unlucky.

the only other thing I could think of is that you may be storing them in a configuration that puts stress on the cable. Otherwise even the crappy moondrop cables shouldn’t break this quickly.

      Luckily, aftermarket cables are cheap.

My Moondrop Kato cables also had this happen to them. In my case the outer sleeving popped out, pushed against the connector and strained the wires, and then the inner cable sleeving wore out and now the cable looks somewhat like this.

I suggest replacing with a cheaper Tripowin cable, the Grace cable has been pretty good to me so far, but I think a plug with a longer insert might be better.

I’ve been thinking about making custom iem cables now that I’m comfortable with headphone cables… but sourcing every part in low quantity is pricey.

I bought mine from Shenzhenaudio and their warranty seems ambiguous at best and I didn’t want to bother sending them to China and then waiting for 2 months. Just bought replacement cables
