I had that problem with a t-shirt with lacing on the front (it’s a Punk Rave t-shirt… lolz don’t hate…) Anyway I fixed it by cutting slits in the sides at the bottom so the front could hang lower more easily. With hoodies I just never zip them unless I’m walking outdoors and it’s freezing.
How do I fix this? I love me a good zip up hoodie, but zipping it makes it look like an alien is halfway through bursting out of my chest.
Well if your hoodie was tighter and shorter that wouldn’t happen. But ofc you may not want a short, tight hoodie. I was thinking over this problem when I suddenly realized I had the answer to another question. See the following image:
My other question was: why do some jackets have attached “vests” like in that image? (the part with the zipper is actually how you close the jacket – I think the other buttons are mostly decorative.) It never made sense until I realized it was an answer to your question: it’s one way to stop the material from “bunching up” if you’re sitting down while wearing it.
So how does this help you? Well if you’re REALLY into DIY, I guess you could design or hack together a hoodie that has a short tight part that connects over your chest, like the jacket above… Otherwise you could wear a t-shirt that doesn’t bunch up; when you’re sitting indoors in the company of others you could unzip the hoodie, and when you’re walking outdoors or alone indoors you could zip it up…
