    I’m 99% sure this is a shitpost.

You’d have to be significantly less intelligent than a raccoon, to not notice the little levers on the sides of the RAM sticks.

Everyone talks about the levers on RAM sticks, but why the FUCK is nobody talking about levers on PCI-E sticks? I thought those didn’t exist and did the same thing as OP.

luckily they aren’t necessary, I’ve had many people come into my shop after breaking the pcie clips and I just make sure it’s screwed in firmly and they’re good to go. they are a bitch tho

That’s the thing, at one point they didn’t exist. I almost ripped one out of my motherboard when I first got one with a latch.

I did rip one out of my motherboard. But they’re purely mechanical so it’s not actually a big deal (and the mobo was broken anyway).

Clearly fake. Those slots were desoldered from a board, and DIMMs placed in them for the lulz.

If you’ve ever seen an idiot actually rip surface-mounted components off a PCB, you’ll know. They tend to take pads and traces with them, and it’s not pretty.

Now, the OOP anon could have ripped those off and scraped off the remnants, but it’s unlikely they would do that for the sake of the photo if they were genuinely stupid enough to pull out the connector.

Ah, thank you. Lol to downvotes I got for asking. Didn’t think my silly name calling could be genuinely taken as condescending, but I was actually asking so thanks

Only ever bought prebuilts, I’m guessing something was left behind on the motherboard?

When they removed the sticks of RAM they also removed the slots the RAM goes into.

Edit: like removing the light bulb socket to change a light bulb.

This actually doesn’t look that bad. I know it’s not good but you don’t need new ram (even if it is 4gb of ram). You only need a new motherboard which is probably an old one because you wouldn’t pair a bad CPU with a good motherboard and it has to be a bad CPU since no good CPU will run with 4gb of ram. The motherboard for this probably costs under $30.

Edit: just realized it’s 1337mhz ram so the motherboard has to be at least 5-10 years old.
