Yesterday it was the Washington post. Today it’s Sky news.

I’m on an iPhone 13 pro max, iOS 16.6 with the app “installed” on my home screen.

Edit: thanks for explaining everybody!

This is a PWA bug. Not a problem in the native app!

This might be the funniest bug I’ve seen reported on here!

I couldn’t understand why you posted this complaint in c/politics.

Yep. It happens with similar app store banners. But only in the PWA app, AFAIK.

That’s because you open your links “In App”. Switch this off and you won’t have that kind of banner anymore.

This is a problem with the PWA. Basically, the last website opened in-app that may have suggested to install a native app via a banner will keep said banner in memory.

I don’t have an option to open links “In App” that I can find anywhere but I’m also seeing ads that are hidden off-screen. Am I missing this option?

        Am I missing this option?

It should be in Settings -> General.

Edit: scratch that. I just checked the PWA and it doesn’t offer this option, sorry :-/

I’m also seeing ads that are hidden off-screen

That’s pretty weird, maybe make a post about it? I never saw anything like this personally.

I did make a post. It’s been downvoted immediately so it’s hidden.

I think OP is referencing the banner at the top of the screenshot.
