Lol what grandstanding is this. They said no, then weeks later said okay yes, with this one change coming out months later which Microsoft doesn’t even care about.

It’s clear from the last 30 years of civil servants being overruled by decision makers on issues around Microsoft that the UK is essentially just going to do what certain big companies tell it to do. Back in the 2000s there was a big push from inside the UKs agencies to de Microsoft themselves, that didn’t last long before word came down to remicrosoft themselves.

Is UK prepared to block Microsoft from operating in the UK? Because if they’re not then they can still be bullied. I hope something comes of this.

Not sure what the over-reliance on microsoft is for these days.

There are so many free alternatives, it just makes sense to use them rather than pay the windows tax.

The same it has been for decades inertia and the cost of retraining/switiching over.

Outlook and excel basically run most businesses.

It’s for Microsoft to make more money. They lobby for it and ensure that decision makers decide to use Microsoft. They aren’t alone in this, of course, but they are very good at doing it.

Change is difficult, but we will be better off if we can go to the trouble to leave Windows behind.
