by stationary, i mean when your character doesnt move around. for example, beat saber and smash drums. i could play those all day. i tried contractors, an fps game, today and i immediately felt horrible like i was going to throw up and it took a while to recover. does anyone have any game recommendations for where your character doesnt walk around?
Puzzling Places is super chill and is getting multiplayer soon.
Demeo comes to mind as well.
For what it’s worth, most people that get motion sickness in VR but continue to try it in moderation eventually get their “VR legs” and have no further problems.
Pistol Whip, technically. You do move forward, but at a constant speed. It’s pretty good when it comes to nausea.
And the game is great. I’ve been playing it daily for about 2 years now.
Tower Tag is a great FPS that is stationary: https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/3812563858803226/
The I except you to die series is a great escape-room type series that you play sitting.
I had nausea to begin with using smooth motion but the trick is to stop as soon as you feel the first sign of feeling sick. Don’t try to push through it. Also having a fan pointed at yourself can help. It’s worth it to get your vr legs, I always use snap turning and that helps too.
Moss and moss 2 are good 3rd person stationary games.
I do like Audica a lot. It’s kind of like beat saber with guns, but as it can introduce precise timing from when you hit the trigger, it feels much more like a classical rhythm game. Song list isn’t everyone’s cup of tea (certainly isn’t my favorite), but the game is very fun and quite polished.
For a non rhythm game, try The Room VR. It is a puzzle/Room Escape game, and therefore not too long. But I did enjoy it quite a bit, it manages to convey a great sense of place.
