No joke, ACT has the best writing of any Soulslike I’ve played. To me, that’s not a high bar, because some Soulslike “lore” can make itself seem more important and complex than it is, while presenting very little.

Crabgame is very good at both playing Internet-humorous fish puns about crabs living on the sea floor, as well as occasional poignant comments on capitalistic lives of the haves and have nots. Its ending goes full send on its messages, even if it takes the Soulslike theme of violence ultimately not solving all problems.
