The AFL finals series will have an extra week from 2026 with the introduction of a 'Wildcard Finals Round'

I have such mixed feelings about this.

The idea that a team finishing 10th would go on to win 5 consecutive games all against top 8 teams is silly.

On the other hand if Freo got a wildcard spot and won one or two games it’d make my year.

    This is awful, we already have a wildcard round, we just call them elimination finals
