Like, Witcher 3 is great, but I have a hard time getting into it because I can’t relate to Geralt at all, and find myself wishing I could make my own witcher or sorceress to play as.

Does anyone else have gaming experiences like that they’d like to share?

Tears of the Kingdom! Nintendo and their desire to keep their characters exactly the same forever is annoying

Especially when the only established female protagonist in first-party Nintendo games is Samus. I feel like Zelda has gone far enough into the open-world RPG format that it’s time to retire Link and let people make their own characters. (Maybe with options to easily recreate Link in the character creator if they so choose.)

Apparently Nintendo considered having Zelda be the protagonist in Breath of the Wild, but quickly realized it didn’t make any sense because of their rigid lore surrounding the Triforce and who has what abilities and their unwillingness to break those traditions

I’m playing Dragon Quest XI and there is no reason our silent protagonist could not also be female. I think Dragon Quest III and IV have been the only time you could choose a female protagonist and its a shame no game since has done so given they are always silent.

Technically DQIX did too, but you got to custom make your entire party in that one, so I give it less credit.
