There is no ethical consumption under capitalism bro, everything is equally bad
I won’t stop buying slaves until the state compels me not to, until then to each their own and let’s agree to disagree and I’ll have you know my family needs their labor

Not much context (it happened a full 100 years earlier), but: I just listened to Behind The Bastards’ 2-parter on Thomas Thistlewood, sadist, slave plantation owner (on Jamaica) and serial rapist. This is the mindset the USA grew from: ruthless exploitation, mass murder, mass rape, and ultimately genocide.
