In the Colombian young adult fantasy novel Echoes of Battle: The Clandestine Arena, The Creature of the Night, Gabriel Rúa—a curious yet reserved university student—becomes obsessed with a viral video showing a mysterious winged being. Valeria’s revelation, in which she claims to have seen the creature up close and to have been protected by it, awakens in Gabriel a deeper interest in the myths surrounding meta-humans.
As he conducts research in the library and grows closer to Marilyn, an assistant who shares his fascination, the reader uncovers the truth: Gabriel himself is the creature. That night, while flying to the misty forest on the outskirts of the city, he encounters an armed hunter searching for something known as “the Orb” and intervenes to protect a puma, confirming his instinct to defend the innocent.
The chapter concludes with new mysteries, looming threats, and the sense that Gabriel’s life is on the brink of irreversible change.
