So friggin cool. Modern bits but looks 100yrs old. I want one, but may not be able to afford one. What does something like this cost?
~15k which seems steep but when over 70% of the bike is made in America, in small quantities, and largely by hand it isn’t cheap to produce. It isn’t for everyone and it isn’t meant to be. Someday I hope we grow enough to start offering a “better” value by getting better deals on parts because of our purchasing power so it is a bit more accessible.
15k seems ok for something like this, would definitely buy one if the start sending them to Australia 🇦🇺
While we don’t ship them directly we have customers on the isle of man, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, and I honestly want to say Australia. We do use iKon shocks which come from Australia though.🙃
iKon shocks are great arent they. Had them on my Kwaka, went with Hagon (UK) shocks with a classic shroud for my Trumpy. They also make a good shock.
Anyway well done, nice looking bike. Be great for taking to a cancer fundraiser ride we have called “The distinguished gentleman’s ride” https://www.gentlemansride.com/
15k, pricing is on their website, Janus motorcycles
Cheers.
IIRC The 450 was something like $14k depending on options. Spicy, but for an all hand-built bike (aside from the engine), not insane.
I looked into them a while back. Not exported to Canada, so I was out of luck. Shame.
We have a Canadian customer working on importing one themselves. I have no idea what that involves or cost but for the 450’s Canada isn’t out of the equation completely.
That’s beautiful! So you worked on this one yourself?
I epa certify the 250 line and do the majority of the “final checks” of all bikes. I also make the oil lines for the 450s and designed the wiring harness for the 450s. Every once in a while I will actually assemble bikes if the main builders go on vacation.
Edit: I have other responsible too but those are the main things.
This is amazing looking, are they all hand built? If anyone at Janus wants to do an AMA with our tiny (but growing fast) community, that would be incredible.
We were 400ish last night and hit 530 overnight, not sure what’s driving so much traffic here, but I’m not complaining!
Well, I think I am probably the only employee with an account and I’m definitely not the one to be answering questions. However I think we try to do a live stream where questions will be answered on our YouTube every Friday.
that is amazin
how do you have the ability to work on this but not ride?
whata job, that thing looks sick
I would assume “don’t currently own one” does not mean “I don’t ride”
Like me, my bikes were stolen!
ya it twas a silly assumption
and im sorry about your bikes! i would be devastated
Exactly I’ve been riding for 18 years
lolol ya i guess that was a pretty terrible assumption when you build stuff like this. life def gets in the way sometimes eh
either way, sick bike and job
i bet its pretty fun
I had my first kid a few years ago and had a 1985 vw with an engine swap with individual carbs and an Audi that had water damage and it finally started rearing is head after 7 years of ownership. With those I had a 96 ZX6R but I needed a reliable vehicle that was kid friendly. So I sold the bike and scraped the Audi and “bought” one. I have two kids now and another on the way and it just isn’t top priority. Plus I have the ability to borrow shop bikes on most occasions.
Money and money.

So the 450 weighs 360 pounds and makes I think between 30-35 horse power. So it’s pretty peppy because of the low weight and fairly agile because of it too. Let’s says it’s not as plush as the typical cruiser but still comfortable to do a few hundred miles no problem. I think we worked out the power to weight is pretty similar to that of a 883 Harley sportster.

That is a gorgeous bike
