At the end of the day, I think it’s really much a personal preference
You got downvoted, must have actually posted an unpopular opinion!
I firmly disagree with OP, but still upvoted because it’s perfect for this place.
I disagree, so upvoted
I downvoted because I agree.
I tried mechanical keyboards. I don’t care for them.
Some laptop keyboards are kinda nice.
explain?
Yea, I would like to know their reasoning as well. Or what laptop they’re using because I haven’t found one I like. I can’t type for shit on any laptop keyboard I’ve used in the last like 15 years. I have one cheapo one that I bought for a tablet that is at least tolerable because the mechanism in the keys gives a little feedback but for most of them there’s just nothing to tell where your fingers are at “tactilely”. I think ThinkPads are supposed to be better but haven’t tried one.
Im using an Asus Tuf F15 gaming laptop, personally i actually think its the worst laptop ive ever used though.
i tend to try and smash the keys all the way down, also to me it feels wierd having to push it all down. and usually the noise is either: annoying, irritating, loud, all of the above. the only keyboard where i can actually withstand the sound without almost popping my eardrums are: you guessed it, laptop keyboards.
I just bought a mechanical keyboard with silent switches because I too love smashing the keys without the clickety-clackety of other switches.
I would have said that I tend to agree but it turns out I just like the shorter throw of the keys. I have a few mechanical keyboards like model m buckling spring that I tried to use recently and the thing that messed with me is just how far you have to press. My main PC, which is almost only used for gaming, has a mechanical keyboard but the switches are much lower travel to activate which I find nice.
Model M is not a mechanical keyboard though. As you say, it’s buckling spring.

Agree. Though the Logitech UltraX Flat was the best keyboard I ever had, and it was external. Sadly long since discontinued…

This is not an opinion lmao just wrong take. If you don’t need the time precision that is required in fast paced games; or you don’t need to write fast with enough precision then laptop keyboard is viable.
If you hate the sound AFAIK you can get silenced mechanical keyboards as well
tbf it just feels better, i like the precision, i like the small travel, i like the sound of laptop keyboards better. i know your probably rocking your 200 euros custom built holy pandas lubed up THOCC keyboard or something, but i feel its just unnecessary spending on something with worse performance. OMG WOOTING 60HE INSTANT PRESS!!! ZOMG!! guess what, thats just a laptop keyboard with stilts.

Nah I have 20 euro keyboard from local electro shop. Basically a laptop keyboard. Non mechanical, thin buttons, etc. Thing is, it’s not nearly as reliable as when I tried mechanical one. And you can get mech for far less than 200 eur I couldn’t even afford that lmao.
What I’m saying is mechanical are objectively better. This is not about preference. From the “feel” standpoint I like laptop keyboards better. But when I’m coding or playing games it gets in the way significantly
Your basing your entire experience on a cheapo 20 euro bumfuck keyboard? Im sure on an actual laptop you’ll quickly change your mind. Ive worked with thise types of cheap membrane keyboards before, They suck.
I do have a laptop but I need additional keyboard since I started using a second monitor in addition to the laptop because the keyboard is now unreachable comfortably. I’ve always used laptop keyboards before lmao.
Here I see you didn’t even read my previous comment to the end lmao. Out
I did read your comment, its just your regurgitating the same exact info.
