Ok, for those not familiar, this guy Chef John … he has this cadence in his videos. It’s very hard to get used to watching his videos, but his work is honestly fantastic. His first videos didn’t have it, I think he adopted it and gained followers maybe it’s confirmation bias, I’m not sure if it’s helping him or hurting him these days, but once you get used to it, if you can get used to it, it becomes endearing.

This particular dish is some of his best work. I make it all the time. It’s quick, simple, easy to clean up from and insanely flavorful.

    I’m a big fan of Chef Johns videos. He has a style and it may not be easy to ignore at first but his recipes and teaching style are so good. And I love his super corny jokes

    Classic! Long time Chef John’s subscriber here. I was there before his channel and “his brand” was partnered with Allrecipes.com

    As to his lilting speech - you’re right, it used to be less pronounced, but over time it became part of his brand and it’s just so entertaining. I love the cadence, love the “you are after all the (rhyming word) of your (foodstuff)”. He has great recipes, perfect for every day meals, this chisaupepo, for example, is in heavy rotation in my household.

      Over the past couple years, he’s tamed it a bit. I make a big deal here because I think it helps to get people into him. I really appreciate his work and hope to drag at least a few more people in to see his actual food.

        Oh yes, his recipes are good. They’re not flashy, but they’re usually perfect for my pantry. I’m also happy he’s now ventured into using East Asian and SE Asian ingredients, like miso and fish sauce.

    That does look really good and I think I’ll try it out, but goodness that is… a unique cadence lol
