Aww man! They were doing so well recently and then they go and fumble the ball massively like this.
I’m not sure it’s a total fumble, but I do worry that this is just Jagex expanding what they can sell RS3 players again. We’ve got a subscription, cosmetic and non-cosmetic micro transactions, effectively loot boxes, and now potentially a battle pass on top of that?
To be clear, haven’t seen anything to suggest you need to pay for the battle pass, but it just feels like a weird expansion for RuneScape. I wish they’d try to cleanup the monetization/have fewer but higher quality options (e.g., more RS art style cosmetics like what Destiny and Hunt Showdown do – to be fair, the pass does seem to have cosmetics that are actually in RS style not just “generic MMO bulky spiky thing” like some of the earlier cosmetics).
Definitely a fumble tho, the community is pissed about this one. Definitely wiped out the good will from necromancy. It’s clear when you look at what’s talked about on the subreddit.
As for paying, it’s just like the Yak Trak. Premium gives you access to the premium track and you can buy skips. It’s unclear what happens to the skips one already has.
Now that it’s released, I think it’s a fumble.
Doesn’t feel like a major update. Seems overhyped but I’m sure it will be decent to play
Yeah, I haven’t gotten on desktop yet, but the other night I was on mobile and didn’t even see anything about it?
Whoa. RuneScape finally has a really battle pass system. Seems like it will feel a lot better to participate in than yak trak for sure.
