Yeah, but there aren’t enough facilities made to treat those and turn them into compost. They take an extraordinarily long time and constant oxygenation to decompose.

I will keep my fingers crossed. It may be pragmatic to “hope for the best and plan for the worst,” but it’s a depressing way to live when the plans are justified so much more than the hopes. I’ll choose simple hope.
Good, but to be honest I’m a little pessimistic that my country (Japan) will do little more than pay it lip service. It’s downright insane here. I was going to buy a box of cupcakes for my family, I’m not exaggerating on this, the only ones the store had were each in their own plastic cup, individually wrapped in plastic, set inside a plastic tray which is inside a shrinkwrapped box, which they will then give to you in a plastic bag to take home. And why? Because it’s more polite or some bullshit.
I try to reduce my plastic as much as possible but even if I bring my own bag the grocery store wraps everything in plastic. There needs to be global regulations so biodegradable become economical enough. If not business will continue to the use the cheaper plastic option
