Amazon is releasing a documentary about Melania at the end of this month. They paid $40 million for it, which is WAY above normal. The whole thing is pretty transparently a way to funnel a bribe to the Trump family.
Typically, there’s nothing we could do about this. However, since this is all going to happen on Amazon Prime, we have a rare opportunity to disrupt this release. How? By making some other Melania content trend on that weekend.
After looking around Amazon, I think the best pick is this:
It’s an erotic novel about Melania Trump as some kind of bat monster. It’s absurd, the cover is ridiculous, and it would SO good if we could get this trending on Amazon on January 30, when the Melania doc comes out.
But I don’t know a ton about how to do this. Does anyone have experience here? We’d probably have to branch out and get some anti-Trump Lemmy (and reddit?) communities involved.

Imagine a woodworker with 14 dogs becomes a billionaire over a trump boycot. That alone is worth $1. The two combined … i’m willing to make a once in my time exception and buy from Amazon.
Assuming there’d be thousands or even millions of buyers, wouldn’t you still generate thousands to millions of revenue for Amazon and thus implicitly make their Melania documentation a success? If you just watched the main video via Prime they’d at best make a few cents from commercials per viewer. If you want to follow that idea, maybe quickly create a book yourself, offer it for free and try to make that trending.
You’d… just be paying Amazon to spite Amazon. That’s not how a boycott works!

It sounds like you’d need a huge botnet all searching this book on Amazon. I dont think they have to buy it. They could probably use a regulsr google search to reach it too.

I am not talented enough to do this, but maybe change “malaria” to “Melania” in some medical texts so the world will now understand that vaccines and killing mosquitoes will prevent Melania?
