    We had an earlier petition called Forever Canada that was very successful on paper but my idiot fellow citizens elected a MAGA traitor party led by a ex-cigarette company propagandist and opportunistic chronic party hopper. She wiped her ass with our petition.

      That’s missing the point pretty heavily. Imagine this: Alberta holds an independence referendum and it fails spectacularly in a vote that international experts hold as very fair and open. Trump, who doesn’t care about international norms or laws or anything that isn’t helping him gets what he wants, declares the vote rigged against the right-wing in Alberta and he’s going to be supporting their independence with the US military (right into annexation)

      Then bonus points for all the “We should just eat the Canada-sandwich that Alaska and Alberta make” comments we see from fascist social media.
