Donald Trump’s border czar Tom Homan says immigration enforcement will reduce the number of officers in Minnesota but suggested during a news conference Thursday that it would happen only after ‘cooperation’ from state officials.
Homan was speaking for the first time since Trump sent him to Minneapolis after a federal immigration officer fatally shot a protester on Saturday.
Homan doubled down on the need for local jails to alert Immigration and Customs Enforcement to people in their custody whom ICE can remove from the country. Homan said that would mean fewer officers have to actually be out on the streets looking for immigrants in the country illegally, and that transferring immigrants to ICE while they’re still in jail is safer for the officers and means they aren’t out on the streets.

Just a reminder that this has been in the works the whole fucking time. It’s been a fucking wild year so obviously it’s understandable this kind of got buried, but this whole sending ICE/Border Patrol into cities thing is usually associated with Big Balls being attacked in DC, but they started threatening to do this after an off duty Border Patrol agent was shot in NY.
Homan has been making almost this same argument word for word since then even though the shooting of the off duty agent did not appear to be related to his job in anyway.

The shooting of the 42-year-old off-duty CBP patrol officer in Fort Washington Park late Saturday night has Homan saying he’s no longer going to play nice with the mayor, or hope he can convince the City Council or the courts to let ICE agents operate on Rikers Island.
"Sanctuary cities get exactly what they don’t want – more agents in the community and more agents in the worksite. If we can’t arrest that bad guy in the safety and security of county jail, we’ll arrest him in the community," Homan said, “and when we arrest him in the community, if he’s with others that are in the country illegally, they’re coming, too.”
This dumbass Ho is getting exactly what he wanted all along. All it took was the murder of a couple of innocent civilians. Honestly can’t help but wonder if Bovino was always just meant to be a temporary place holder while Homan was busy dealing with the other shakedown/scandal he was caught on camera commiting.
