I daily drive Plasma Mobile on my PinePhone Pro and I enjoy it. Phosh is generally more popular choice for a Linux phone because it is more stable. But the latest version of Plasma Mobile works well and I like its UX more.

I have some complains about Plamo, but nothing critical. It’s nice to see DE evolving. I use ArchLinux.

The Danctnix thing I presume, not really Arch in the true sense 😉

But good to hear! Make sure to report the bugs you encounter so they can be fixed!

Right, DanctNIX, but it’s basically ArchLinux ARM with additional repo with mobile and Pine specific packages. Yes, there are preconfigured images, but I prefer barebone ones 😉

          Sure, always report!

How does the pine phone pro perform? I’ve been thinking about buying one but I don’t know if it’s worth it. Are the ui gestures smooth and is the experience generally on par with “normal” phones out now

I would say it works okay. It’s far from Android, but we are getting there. When I first bought the phone Plasma Mobile was too immature for me, I used Phosh. I switched to Plasma a few month ago. Phosh also improves, right now animations are smoother, but I do not like the UX. At the moment there are no push notifications, swipe touch typing, some important applications are not tailored for the phone, there are minor bugs in Plasma Mobile, etc. But all this things are not important for me, so I daily drive it 😁 You can also run Android apps using Waydroid.

The most issue with PinePhone Pro for me is the chip. RK3399s is super hot and hungry, the phone holds about 1.5 hours. So I would recommend to buy the Pine keyboard which provides additional battery for the phone. There is even a phone + keyboard bundle on the Pine store.
