The era of the tank is not over, rather russia failed to invest in modernizing and evolving its tanks and now they have no way forward with them.

Russia never bothered to learn what a modern Main Battle Tank truly was and further their armored expertise has been obliterated by the staggering attrition russia has subjected itself too. Tanks require a trained professional army around them to be useful, russia no longer has that at any scale.

What is left are husks, obsolete T-62 hulls and overconfident idiots…

Laugh at russians when they say tanks are obsolete because of drones, they are just pathetically coping with the fact that russia has lost the military culture to know how to design or use tanks.

If it was only Russian incompetence that made tanks obsolete then Ukraine would be fielding tanks successfully.

      They are

The first M1A1 Abrams tanks delivered to Ukraine took a beating. But this was not because of any shortcomings of the tank; it was due to tactics. The Ukrainians didn’t really understand the way the Americans fight and use their armor.

The Abrams was designed to work within U.S. combined-arms doctrine, which dictates close cooperation among mechanized forces, infantry, artillery, and air power. Because Ukraine didn’t operate that way, Russian anti-tank missiles and drones took an unnecessary toll.

Due to manpower and equipment shortages, Ukrainian Abrams tanks often entered combat alone, without the support of infantry or other armor. Abrams tanks or any other ones are easy pickings for Russian anti-tank crews in these disadvantageous conditions.

Yeah, so? They are tanks, they go to the absolute most important part of the frontline, they smash into things, they break.

Next to an attack helicopter a main battle tank is the most frightening thing you can fight especially at night. You are falling for lazy russian propaganda/cope if you think tanks are obsolete.

It’s not Russian propaganda to point out that both Russia and Ukraine are losing all their tanks to drones.

It was Ukraine that innovated on the battlefield and made tanks obsolete.
