This seems like a waste of money - are they going to subsidise the fare for people who can already afford air travel over the railways? If they do run it cheap, how much will they focus on the high safety and operational standards expected out of airlines?
I think a Karnataka specific udaan would have been better. Governments should never be running businesses. But the socialist hangover still exists. The number of PSUs are way too many in India already.

Its probably easier going to Mysore by road/train than going to airport and waiting.
Probably they could buy 100s of EV buses as well then.
