This meme is a bit ironical as salmon on their spwaning run tend to not feed anymore. Hence it’s actually not that easy to convince them to bite a lure… all that abundance doesn’t matter if the fish are biologially programmed to not bite.

(I’m not an expert salmon fisher. To my knowledge catching them with lures at this life stage is mostly aimed at their defence reflex which usually makes them chase away rivals)
