Gift of Gaming is a new Lemmy community that I’ve created to facilitate video game giveaways. I used to participate in a lot of them back on Reddit (RIP) and I thought making a community like this for Lemmy would be a good fit. Let’s bring more wholesome content to Lemmy!

What a great idea! Thoughts on opening it up to RPG, tabletop, board gaming, etc.? I know that BGG has giveaways, math trades, secret Santa, etc., but I’d love to have a curated repo of other places to keep an eye on! 🙌🏽
Would love to expand into some other types of gaming once we are more established. Nothing is out of the question. Right now with just me moderating we’ll have to see how the community grows and determine if we need more mods.

Quick question is it allowed to share current giveaways ran by reputable companies? I ask because Aksys has a current give away on their Twitter for Jack Jeanne on the Nintendo Switch!
For the sake of keeping things simpler to moderate, I think it’s best for now to keep it to giveaways hosted on Lemmy by Lemmy users. Mostly because we can’t trust that if we open the floodgates to giveaways off site to be hosted on the community, we have no way of telling if everyone would be posting only giveaways from reputable companies. Maybe when we have more mods and more users.
