How exactly does this keyboard make the iPad “more like a laptop”? It’s a keyboard, we’ve had iPad keyboard forever. Needs OS support to allow more laptop-y features.

I have a Magic Keyboard and I like it, but it has two problems that each work against solving the other.

One: it’s unstable. When using it like a laptop, the screen makes it really top heavy and it’s prone to tipping. Not great if you actually have it on your lap or on the couch next to you - anything other than a level tabletop.

Two: it’s heavy. The ipad + Magic Keyboard is on par or heavier than my MBP.

So if they add weight to the keyboard base to improve stability, they will worsen the already heavy weight issue.

Basically, the only reason I have this thing is because I like having a touchscreen. Touch for games is key. And I like it for all interfaces if I can get it.

I want a MBP with a touchscreen. But they won’t make one because that would cannibalize iPad sales. I’ve already revealed above how I own both devices and that’s exactly where they want me.

If the currently available one is 300€ then an aluminium one must be like 500€

It’s like the perfect product but the price is fucking unreal. For like 100€ would sell like hot bread.

Until they open iOS to other stores and apps than their own AppStore, nothing will make it a real laptop.

Getting closer and closer to just offering straight OSX on an iPad. It would be an immediate purchase for me.

I’d imagine they already have it waiting in the wings for when they need a great big “one more thing” to boost their yearly profits.
