Hmm, but doesn’t this require strong magnetic fields, that are potentially problematic? For example, wouldn’t your spoon heat up from induction, if you place it close to your phone?
And does it cause cancer? Does it wipe your credit cards?
Cancer, not at all. This is not capable of generating UV rays. Heck, not even visible light.
Right, I wasn’t under the impression that it did. But radiation does exist across the electromagnetic spectrum. Are they able to calculate the long-term exposure amounts and deem them safe?
Yes. Not all radiation has the capabilities of causing cancer.
Look up ionizing radiation. You need that to damage cells.
That begins at the middle of UV spectra. Less than that, it can’t (it’s related to the photoelectric effect and Compton effect)
You cannot make visible light to produce cancer. It’s not physically possible. And microwaves, wifi and cellular radiation has less energy than visible light.
@kier I am no expert, but there are I believe other mechanisms that could *maybe indirectly* cause cancer with certain kinds of radiation. I feel like cell damage from microwave- or infrared-induced heat could release free radicals or create some other carcinogenic chemicals.
But that’s not a direct result of the radiation. Direct DNA damage from radiation only occurs with ionizing radiation, as you mentioned.
And since we’re talking about visible light, I’m not aware of any way, indirect or otherwise, that visible light could cause cancer.
Even this would be good so that phones can charge through cases and stuff
There are already cases that allow wireless charging. Magsafe is now available for other phones, you can either buy a case that has it or a metal sticker that makes any case compatible. I’m using a wireless charger in my car for my pixel 7
My wife’s iphone can’t be wireless charged with the apple wallet on it
And that is surprising to you? No phones will charge with the magnetic accessories attached to the back and I doubt that will ever change.
Those accessories are designed/meant to be swapped out and taken off when not in use. I have a couple of mag wallets for my phone and they most definitely don’t live on the phone. I swap them out when I don’t want to take my regular wallet with me.
The point is to always have your wallet. If you have to remember to put your wallet on your phone, you may as well just carry a wallet.
That’s an oversimplification. You can just as easily forget your regular wallet.
Again. These mag accessories are meant to be swapped out as needed. You can choose to forgo wireless charging and keep the mag wallet attached (that’s fine) there are similar cases for phones without wireless charging.
My everyday wallet isn’t a phone accessory, it’s a slimmer wallet that lives in my car most of the time. When I feel the need to go even lighter I can swap out for one of the mag wallets I have. With the mag wallet on my phone, of course it won’t charge wirelessly so I don’t rock it all of the time. My wife also has a magnetic case with a slim wallet, she swaps that out when we go to concerts or shows where carrying a purse would be non ideal. Her phone also doesn’t have wireless charging so if she felt like leaving it on it wouldn’t be an issue.
Long story short. Your wife can easily remove the wallet from the back while charging and then put it back on when it’s done. If she can’t handle that, you have bigger problems and I would look into getting her some help.

Yeah, lots of things are possible. But that doesn’t make them good user experience.
If she can’t handle that, you have bigger problems and I would look into getting her some help.
What a ridiculous reply.
What’s ridiculous is your need to feel important and keep responding even if it’s nonsense.
Your sense of good user experience is also ridiculous. It makes zero sense logistically or physically to make a phone charge wirelessly through an accessory on the back that makes the phone not stable while on its back. This has nothing to do with user experience and more to do with the user not understanding the limits of what they have and thinking that their opinion on this is special or unique, hint, it’s not.
I’m sorry (not sorry) if me calling out the fact your comment added nothing to the discussion hurt your feelings.
Long story short. Get off the internet and tell your wife to either remember to put the wallet back on the phone or just plug the fucking thing in.
Seeing as you are completely missing the point, I’m done playing now. I also checked out your comment history and holy fuck are you out of your mind and disconnected with reality. Capitalism is not a great economic system but saying that communism gives people more choices is a sign of extreme mental instability.
and finally we’ve just about caught back up to NIKOLAI Tesla
edit: adding his first name, fuck Elon.
My take on the down votes is this ventures into conspiracy theories about Tesla and wireless power delivery.
The only reason I can think of for people to be downvoting you is if they think you’re talking about the car company, not Nikola Tesla. Probably should have used his full name.
Though the system he came up with was, well, flawed for lack of a better word.
It was pioneering, but viewed as mad science. It wasn’t a workable system, but had other scientists ran with it, it could have become something a lot sooner than 2023.
I thought he accidentally gave a bunch of his assistants cancer with his wireless power transfer or something?
Jesus fucking Christ no. That’s not how any of this works. Please delete your comment in case some stupid ai bot eats it and tries to pass it off as reality.
