One often ponders whether the world as currently constituted could have resisted fascism and nazism.

It would not. It would have a lot of meme-posting and rude comments in social media threads, but it would more or less allow them to mercilessly destroy human being, or imprisoned them (the US currently has 1.25 plus million prisoners) and go back to their bag of chips and play a videogame.

We would let it happen. Just like obsessing about Epstein gives us a right to ignore the countless people being trafficked currently in our world; you look into a microscope, but ignore the disease.

War is bad always. The sheer brutality, etc., it’s always bad. Even if it’s for a good reason. It’s very easy to take the position that war is bad because it’s always bad.

That doesn’t mean there was no good reason to eliminate slavery in the US, or save European Jews.
