We define everything from neologisms to hyper-specific phrasings. We also aim to hype up lexicography and make it less pretentious, more casual, and more enjoyable for everyone. Ideally, we want to popularize fun phrasing for humanity, maybe even get people saying “frobly-mobly” or feeling more willing to mix in foreign languages, and so on.

MorDictionary helps run and manage various lexicography projects, including but not limited to Lexical Faces (which matches faces to dictionary entries) & Lexical Soundtrack (which matches songs to dictionary entries), NeologismHelp (where we help each other out making our own new words).

Aside: MorDictionary would love to give attribution for the coiner of a new term.

We want to minimize AI exposure across our various dictionary projects and instead segment those elements into the Moribund Institute’s sloptionary.org project, where contributors are free to attach AI-generated images, music, and other media to entries. Other dictionary-focused projects, like mordictionary.org, will ideally limit AI usage to placeholders.

We also want to minimize political or religious exposure across our dictionary projects, or treat such content similarly to AI-generated material; that is, segment it into its own forked branch projects, such as Libertarian Lexicography, Liberal by Denotation, Socialist Semantics, Secular Semantics, Comparative Conservative Connotations, and so on.

The goal of the MorDictionary project is that of a true logomaniac, aiming to be truly neutral across the board while solely promoting vocabulary with engaging dictionary entries and other related content.

If you’re an artist, we can give you attribution on a wiki page for contributions such as updating our cover art or project profile, & in the dictionary entry itself if your artwork helps people remember the word. We also occasionally hire freelancers when we have money.
