    That’s not surprising. He really just wanted Vietnam to not be under external rule and in the 40s America was fighting the people taking it

      We made a big mistake in siding with the French, and then subsequently with Diem. Even internal US intelligence recognized that Ho Chi Minh had unambiguously massive grassroots support in the country.

        Yeah if we believed in democracy we’d’ve supported the democratically elected president over the king
