I wish to create a community based on a language which hasn’t been listed, yet it’s the 7th largest spoken language according to Google. I wish to give people an experience “away from facebook”. The community (group) would be such that only members can post photos. Anybody can comment on them though. How to create such a group/community ??

    There’s no way to currently restrict posting to only image posts. You would have to manually remove non-image posts.

    Even if Piefed did implement that restriction option (and I think they should, down the line) - Lemmy instances would not recognise it currently.

    What language are you referring to?

        If you scroll down the language list, a bunch of languages are written in their native scripts. Are they not amongst them? Seems like a major oversight if so.

          Piefed gets pre-populated with some of the most common languages on the fediverse, but others are added as content is received in them. A mature instance like piefed.social probably had a pretty complete list, but it wouldn’t surprise me if others don’t have all the languages yet.
