The state has sent Dole four notices of deficiency about the dam since 2009, and five years ago it fined the company $20,000 for failing to address safety deficiencies on time, according to records.

That’s capitalism for you, the gains are privatized, and the losses of the dam breaking and destroying countless lives don’t show on the balance sheet.
The working class need to take back control of the state from the Epstein billionaires currently in charge, by any means necessary. Our lives depend on it.
“Dole is proud to transfer this vital resource to the State of Hawaiʻi at no cost, ensuring its continued use and stewardship in support of agriculture and the broader community,” the company said in a statement after the vote.
“Fixing the dam ourselves would be an expensive hassle. We’re happy to dump this problem on the taxpayers, and even have the gall to brag that we’re doing it ‘at no cost’”.
