A new letter from the Capitol’s attending physician says the Senate minority leader is not suffering from a seizure disorder, short strokes known as TIA or movement issues like Parkinson’s disease.

So has anyone ever had a form of lightheadedness that rendered them unable to speak? I was underweight for most of my life and regularly felt lightheaded. I could always at least say “oh shit, I feel lightheaded” unless I was right about to faint, which doesn’t seem to be the case for Mitch.

I feel like we’re being taken for absolute fools when lightheadedness is mentioned, but maybe I’m missing something.

I have in the past, but I also almost fell over.

Every once in a while I’ll just get incredibly lightheaded and I’m not able to talk or even think. I usually lose balance too and need to brace myself against something. It’ll last like 30 seconds and then go away. They come on with no warning and I can’t even say anything.

I’ve never been able to figure out what causes it. It happens rarely, like once every 3-4 years.

… is this the same doctor who said that trump was the fittest person to ever hold the presidency?

The doctor is in congress? The doctor is congress’ doctor? The doctor is fucking congress?

Ronny Jackson was the White House doctor during Trump’s presidency, who said he was the fittest president and that he had “good genes”. He is now a congressional representative for Texas.

No, the attending physician of the US Congress is Dr. Brian Monahan who was nominated for the position by Obama in 2009. But that doesn’t preclude him from being just as much of a liar as “Dr.” Ronny Jackson.

The attending physician went on to say,“McConnell and Feinstein recently played a spirited game of doubles squash with the opposing team consisting of Grassley and Schumer. They are all in perfect health, just like the last two occupants of The White House.”

Even if they aren’t lying, the fact that you need to release medical documents suggesting your health isn’t as bad as it seems is a good sign that it’s time to retire.

The letter does not include any additional information about what caused either of the two recent public episodes where McConnell froze in front of reporters and had to be helped by aides.

It’s not hard to imagine what did cause him to freeze.

Even if they were focal seizures it’s possible the mri and a routine eeg were normal. A 30 minute EEG sometimes shows changes in between seizures in people who have them but not always. If you catch an actual seizure during the eeg that’s almost always abnormal though. My money is still on focal seizure. It’s entirely possible his doctors could still suspect these are focal seizures and still say “no evidence of” a seizure disorder and still be technically not lying for the above reasons. I’m not sure it’s a huge scandal though, most seizures go away with medication, and a rare episode of speech arrest isn’t exactly disabling. I’d be more interested if he had cognitive issues like Feinstein or something.

I have focal seizures and multiple EEGs came back totally fine. I got an epilepsy diagnosis when my mom took a vid of me having a seizure and showed it to the doctor

Yeah exactly. There’s a misconception that a routine EEG done between seizures will always be abnormal, which is often not the case for focal onset epilepsy (by far the most common type). Presumably the EEG during the seizure would have been abnormal, but this isn’t always done, especially if the episodes aren’t frequent, can’t live your life hooked up to an EEG waiting for an event. If events are frequent and there’s a concern for non-epileptic attacks which can appear very similar, sometimes people are admitted to the hospital and monitored until one happens. Sometimes the best way is just making sure it’s clinically compatible with seizures (the video was a smart thing to do and probably very helpful to your doctor), and then see if an anti seizure medication treats them.

My mom was admitted to a hospital and monitored when she started having focal seizures. It took her a long while to find a good medication to treat her seizures. I took about a year to find effective medication.

From the article: “The letter does not include any additional information about what caused either of the two recent public episodes where McConnell froze in front of reporters and had to be helped by aides.” Either they don’t know (more likely), or they don’t want to share (slightly less likely).

They’re trying to pass it off as if he’s fine but they apparently don’t know what it is.
