    Explanation: After two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan by the USA in WW2, there remained discussions in Japan’s government of continuing the war - not in the hopes of victory, but in the insane death cult of Japanese militarism which assured its followers that it was better for Japan to be totally destroyed than be defeated. The Japanese Emperor at the time opted instead for the more-sane option of surrender - and a core element of Japanese militarist ideology at the time was also absolute loyalty to the Emperor, who was considered near-godlike in his importance.
