it’s also american made devices. China doesn’t want it’s citizens data going to america anymore than you want your data going to china. it’s both ways.

the EU also regulates this for what it’s worth, you can’t have american spyware sending data to american services. the data has to be kept within the EU so that it can be regulated to satisfy what the EU needs, because america won’t do that.

Just like how eu governments don’t want government officials using tiktok even though by law, the data has to reside within the eu?

Do you understand the parallels here?

Just pointing out your false statement about their data being stored in the US. Do you understand now?

I’d think this is just as much about data access as data safety. It’s a lot easier for China to gain access to and control their employees’ data and usage if they’re using a China-made Android phone than an iPhone.

Apple has to make special allowances to comply with Chinese law, but I’d imagine their phones are still keeping far more user data out of the Chinese government’s hands than their local competition.

If you don’t think Apple is tracking everything you do, you haven’t been paying attention. Cupertino is in the midst of a massive pivot to services as the primary driver of revenue. It’s still a ways out from completion, but the goal is clear.

I find this interesting but haven’t read anything about it, do you have a source? I know about Fitness+ and Apple TV but that’s a bit different imo.

He has an opinion, and without any evidence it’s just that.

That he’s getting any upvotes is just the paranoid and the apple haters coming out of the closet.

That’s what I thought too, after posting my question. I mean I’m all for open source and privacy and fair business but making up your own news doesn’t help anyone. And anyone using a Google product (if that’s the case here I do not know) really has no right to criticise Apple anymore.

They gotta prop up their failing economy by trying to force people to buy homegrown devices. Probably easier to spy on them too.

But xi jinpin, loves face timing Putin on his new iPhone 15 spyware edition.

As a wise man once said “apple cannot be privacy focused or secure because the only person who can validate that is apple”

Well they built most of them. Until Apple wised up and started diversifying their supply chain away from China when they finally figured out the size of the problem.

More countries should do that. And should also ban Facebook-owned apps, TikTok, and other spyware on those official phones.
