    So tone-deaf, I imagine this could be a joke. But, I suppose they really could be this deeply unaware of their reputation, or just as deeply in denial.

    The complete disconnect between how they see themselves and how the rest of the world sees them is astonishing. I suppose that’s what is needed to remain a believer.

      What they are trying to convey is that Catholics don’t genuinely use birth control so they tend to have huge families so they need a big ass van. They also live in denial and refuse to accept that their religion is fucked up so I can see how they wouldn’t get how this is a fucked up thing to put on their “not a pedo van”

          Also, one of my friends was sexually abused by someone in her church when she was a kid. I didn’t learn about it until we were adults.

        Yes, it was the steeple formed by their hands when kids did the “this is the church and this is the steeple” thing with their grandparents.
