Ok so here is my quick install experience on my phone (Fairphone 4 Android 12)
Installation of Version 0.33 through Googleplay works flawless.
Installation of Version 0.34 through F-Droid crashes on startup.
Installation of Version 0.35 from github runs but I can’t login on lemmy.fmhy.ml because the Server Version is below 0.18 sth.
After reading some comments it seems that crash on 0.0.34 is caused by the fact lemmy.ml (which is called on start) is already on version 0.18 and lemmy.fmhy.ml isn’t. Which is why I can’t login. But if I hadn’t the data saved from the google play store Installation I couldn’t even use this one.

Yup 33 on playstore it is. 34 on F-Droid though
Google distributes it in waves. So a group may get is faster, then another… And so on
